The Mayor was proving obstinate until the mercenary stabbed a bit of meat on the tip of his knife and started eating it with great relish. It then occurred to him that he’d endangered the friends of some rather dangerous people, and his attempts to retreat and make things right were a thing of great beauty and greater amusement.
